Outsourcing is the practice of hiring the service of an
external company or an external force to handle certain internal functions to
help in facilitating a business. A good example of an external outsourced force
is freelance contractors.
It cannot be denied that outsourcing has taken a major leap
in the marketing industry since it was first introduced. Job outsourcing has
become a widely accepted strategy for many companies. Many companies have
proven that there are many benefits of outsourcing. Listed below are the basic
factors of how a company, big or small, can benefit from it.
Save financial resources. One of the primary reasons why a
company or a business resort to outsourcing is to save resources. Large
expenditures can be avoided, especially for outsourcing companies located
outside the US
because the wages, materials, facilities, and infrastructure are much cheaper
overseas. The same is true with hiring freelance contractors. Since they work
on contractual basis, they do not require regular wages and benefits like
social security, health care, and other compensations that regular employee
receives. In addition, freelancers do not require training which can take away
a significant amount of budget. This means total cost-cutting in labor
expenses. The need to build additional
infrastructures and buildings to house employees is also avoided. By saving a
great deal on infrastructure and labor costs, more funds can be invested on
capital.
Commence projects immediately. Through an outsourcing firm, a business that
has just started and doesn’t really have complete equipments and devices
necessary for that particular type of business can still start its operation
right away. All these necessities are
already provided by the outsourcing company.
Concentrate on the core of your business. The manager and his staff doesn’t necessarily
have to do all the everyday tasks like data entry, file management, accounting, etc. so that
more attention can be put to more important tasks like knowing, and delivering
the customers’ expectations.
Stay competitive.
Even small businesses don’t have to be intimidated by bigger
corporations just because they are new to the industry. The skills and expertise that outsourcing
provides enable these small enterprises to compete in the marketing industry
and can even allow them to have an edge over their competitors. Freelancers on the other hand, are often
skilled, and expert on their chosen professions so hiring their services
guarantees efficiency and competence with regards to their tasks.
Avoid risks. The risk
of failing or losing to its competition is a major concern of any
business. The constant changes in
financial situations, technological advancement, and government regulations are
just some of the factors that a business needs to continuously be able to adapt
with. With the help of outsourcing
providers, these risks are anticipated in advanced, precautionary measures are
done to avoid it.
When outsourcing, remember to carefully consider which tasks
or which areas of your business can benefit greatly from outsourcing. Which jobs are safe for outsourcing? Tasks that doesn’t really require major
decision makings like payroll, encoding, data transcription, and other
activities which are monotonous and mundane.
Choose your outsourcer wisely. Make sure that the outsourcing provider has
all the credentials of a legitimate company. Research the outsourcer’s geographical location, experience,
infrastructures and status. When hiring
a freelancer, allow for a trial period to test the contractor’s capabilities.
Always remember that although you are handing over certain
functions, you should still maintain control over these responsibilities. If you cannot personally look after on the
outsourced tasks, assign someone who works in-house to keep an eye on your
behalf. This way you can be certain that
operations are performed proficiently at all times.
